Overview

Lauer GmbH is a German family-owned technical services group active in industrial plant engineering (Industrieanlagenbau), technical building equipment (Technische Gebäudeausrüstung) and facility management. It is headquartered in Seeheim-Jugenheim in the state of Hesse and traces its origins to 1986, when it was founded as Lauer Isolierungen GmbH, initially working in thermal insulation and fire protection. Over the following decades the company broadened its portfolio well beyond insulation, adding technical building equipment, electrical and instrumentation and control technology (EMSR), steel construction and chemical plant engineering, and later fire-extinguishing systems, tenant fit-out, photovoltaics, security technology and respiratory protection technology. Today Lauer describes itself as one of the leading German companies in industrial plant engineering, technical building equipment and facility management, delivering integrated projects across the entire life cycle of plants and buildings — from initial consulting and professional execution to maintenance and long-term support. Its service portfolio includes industrial plant engineering, technical building equipment, facility management, a respiratory protection workshop (Atemschutzwerkstatt), an in-house carpentry workshop (Schreinerei) and a fabrication centre (Fertigungszentrum). The company reports around 40 years of experience, nine locations nationwide, roughly 710 employees and annual revenue of about EUR 220 million. Lauer positions itself explicitly as an experienced family business rather than an anonymous corporate group, emphasising personal relationships, craftsmanship and engineering know-how. Its client base spans industrial companies, the public sector, and building owners and users. Reference projects cited by the company include the Europaviertel light rail construction in Frankfurt, revitalisation of the Landesärztekammer Hessen, energy-efficient refurbishment of the Sparkasse Starkenburg, building refurbishment on Frankfurt's Zeil, the "Neue Welt" quarter, and facility management for an automotive headquarters. The company has grown substantially through acquisitions and mergers, particularly from 2008 onwards, and in 2020 merged with the chemical plant engineering business of Babcock Industry & Power GmbH. It maintains its own workshops in the Industriepark Höchst industrial park and operates a fabrication centre of about 1,000 square metres at its headquarters site in Seeheim-Jugenheim (Ober-Beerbach), where sheet metal and metal parts are processed. Since the beginning of 2025 it has also run its own carpentry workshop, combining traditional handcraft with modern machinery such as CNC milling.

History

Lauer GmbH traces its origins to 1986, when it was founded as Lauer Isolierungen GmbH, operating in the fields of thermal insulation and fire protection. The company is headquartered in Seeheim-Jugenheim in Hesse, Germany. A separate root of the business is the Maschinenfabrik Wester, founded in 1939, which since 1976 belonged to Deutsche Babcock; there the business field was assigned to Babcock Industrierohrleitungsbau (later Babcock Industry & Power). At the beginning of the 21st century the ownership of that business changed several times, and in 2020 the chemical plant engineering operations of Babcock Industry & Power GmbH merged with Lauer Industrieservice GmbH. From 2002 onwards Lauer added further trades to its portfolio, including technical building equipment, electrical and instrumentation and control technology (EMSR), steel construction and chemical plant engineering. In 2008 the company expanded through several acquisitions: BWB Engineering (Kronberg branch), MBB Kettner, Kiefer GmbH, Rist Anlagenbau (partial acquisition and merger with Rist Transporttechnik GmbH), Pzybilla Heiz- und Gebäudetechnik, and Infrastrukturbau (partial acquisition). In 2014 the company established a working group (Arbeitsgemeinschaft) with InfaServ Höchst GmbH. Since 2015 it has been present with its own workshops in the Industriepark Höchst industrial park. In 2017 it received recognition as an installing company for fire-extinguishing systems and added the tenant fit-out trade (KG 300/400) to its portfolio. In 2018 it made a partial acquisition of OKI Isoliertechnik GmbH, and in 2020 the merger with Babcock Industry & Power GmbH (chemical plant engineering) took place. In 2021 it completed the partial acquisition of Bachtrup Stahlbau GmbH. In 2022 photovoltaics was added to the offering, followed in 2023 by security technology and safety and respiratory protection technology. Today Lauer describes itself as one of the leading German companies in industrial plant engineering, technical building equipment and facility management, realising integrated projects across the entire life cycle of plants and buildings — from initial consulting through professional execution to maintenance and long-term support. The company reports around 40 years of experience, nine locations nationwide, roughly 710 employees and annual revenue of about EUR 220 million. It presents itself as an experienced family business rather than an anonymous corporate group. Its fabrication centre at the headquarters site in Seeheim-Jugenheim (Ober-Beerbach) covers about 1,000 square metres and processes sheet metal and metal parts, a tradition that has been part of the company's customer-oriented services since its founding in 1986. Since the beginning of 2025 the company has also operated its own carpentry workshop, combining traditional handcraft with modern machinery such as a CNC milling machine.
