History
Laser Products Industries (LPI) was founded in 1994 by Dan Louis with a single mission: making measuring easier and faster through laser technology. The company initially focused on laser line tools for the stone and construction industries. In 1997, LPI released the SL-24 Laser Square, the first multi-functional laser line tool providing automatic square (90° or 45°) vertical lines and dots as well as a 120° level line. Two years later, in 1999, the company introduced the GS-28 Saw Laser, primarily designed for bridge saws and CNC equipment, providing a 110° red laser line on any surface to be cut. In 2003, LPI released the FR-16 Framing Square, a "junior" version of the SL-24 that extends the size of a traditional framing square up to 100 feet in both directions. A major turning point came in 2004 with the launch of the LT-55 Laser Templator, the first laser measuring system developed for the countertop and cabinet fabrication industries. This product line was discontinued in 2008 and replaced by the LT-55 XL, which moved from a PocketPC to a tablet running Windows XP. The LT-55 XL was discontinued in 2010 and succeeded by the LT-55 XLW, the last model in the LT-55 product line, featuring a wireless laser; it was discontinued in 2016. In 2012, LPI updated its saw laser with the GS-40, which employs a green laser line visible in low-light environments. In 2013, the company introduced the LT-2D3D Laser Templator (4.0), the first model of the LT-2D3D line. Over more than 30 years, LPI has sold more than 9,000 digital laser templating systems and software worldwide. The company has continued to innovate with the 5X Laser Templator, designed to revolutionize templating workflows with wireless connectivity and pinpoint accuracy, and the LT3Raptor software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, which encompasses a myriad of functions and tools. LPI also offers LPI Cloud, a cloud-based management hub for tracking jobs, assets, and activity, and StoneTag, a label system for fabrication processes. The company supports its customers through LPI Care, a 360-degree customer service platform offering training, technical support, service and maintenance, warranty coverage, and a loaner program. LPI operates a 2,000-square-foot training center in Romeoville, Illinois, and remains a privately held company.
