Landessportbund Thüringen

Landessportbund Thüringen e.V. (LSB) is the voluntary association of gymnastics and sports clubs and other sports communities in the Free State of Thuringia. Under its umbrella, around 392,000 members in 3,189 sports clubs are organized in 22 district and city sports federations. A total of 51 state sports associations and 19 affiliated organizations organize grassroots and recreational sport as well as competition operations and ensure sports-specific training. These figures make the Landessportbund Thüringen the largest civic organization in the state. The LSB Thüringen, with its district and city sports federations, is the umbrella organization of Thuringian sports clubs with their members as well as the Thuringian sports associations and affiliated organizations. The Thüringer Sportjugend with its subdivisions is the youth association of the LSB Thüringen. Together they form organized sport in Thuringia. As part of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, they develop and shape sport in the Free State. In interaction with politics and society, autonomy and party-political neutrality apply to them.
