The company history page states that the production of coffee machines branded LaCimbali began in 1930 with Rapida, following Giuseppe Cimbali's opening of a copper-processing shop in the centre of Milan in 1912. The Cimbali Group describes a distribution network covering over 100 countries involving 700 distributors.
History
According to the official company history page, Giuseppe Cimbali opened a copper-processing shop in the centre of Milan in 1912. In 1930, the production of coffee machines branded LaCimbali began with Rapida; the technology of that time was based on a vertically positioned boiler, hence the name of column machines, mainly heated by coal or wood. In 1945, LaCimbali launched Albadoro, a machine with two independent vertical boilers that could feature from 3 to 6 coffee groups, for the first time positioned at the front of the machine, and the cup-warmer. Between 1947 and 1950, with the spread of electricity and the advent of the lever to produce coffee cream, LaCimbali's machines underwent a technological revolution with Ala, Gioiello and Brillante. In 1955, the company launched Granluce, equipped with the hydraulic group (patented) able to facilitate and reduce the barista's workload because it makes the delivery completely automatic; this innovation allowed LaCimbali to enter new foreign markets. In 1962, Pitagora won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro.
