Kyrö Distillery Company

Kyrö Distillery Company is a Finnish all-rye distillery. According to its official website, the concept was conceived in a sauna by five founding friends — Mikko, Jouni, Miika, Miko, and Kalle — and the distillery is located in the village of Isokyrö, Finland. Its product range includes rye whiskies such as Kyrö Malt Rye Whisky, Kyrö Malt Oloroso Whisky, Kyrö Wood Smoke Whisky, and Kyrö Peat Smoke Whisky, as well as gins including Kyrö Gin, Kyrö Pink Gin, and Kyrö Dark Gin.

According to the official Kyrö Distillery story page, the concept for the all-rye distillery was conceived in a sauna by five founders — Mikko, Jouni, Miika, Miko, and Kalle — who sipped rye whisky together for the first time. In search of a home for the distillery, the founders first visited a family farm in Isokyrö, and later noticed a disused old dairy. The first distillation took place when Head Distiller Kalle's parents went on vacation and a section of their house was turned into a fermentation hall; the first batch was distilled using a still at Beer Hunters in Pori, Finland's first craft whisky distillery.
