Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt

Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt is an independent state foundation under public law and one of the largest of its kind in Saxony-Anhalt. It has administered some of the most beautiful castles, palaces, cathedrals and monasteries with their museums and collections for a quarter of a century. Its statutory tasks include the structural and conservation care and scholarly development of architectural and cultural monuments, in order to make them accessible to the public or to bring them into a use appropriate to their significance. At 20 sites in the middle of Germany, unique treasures are presented.

In 1996, the "Stiftung Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt" and the "Domstiftung" were founded under a joint board and administration. In 2001, the foundation took on the fiduciary administration of the "Kloster Bergesche Stiftung" and the "Stiftung Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen". In 2005, the two legally independent state foundations "Stiftung Schlösser, Burgen, Gärten" and "Domstiftung" merged under the name "Stiftung Dome und Schlösser in Sachsen-Anhalt", and fiduciary administration of the legally independent "Stiftung Kloster Michaelstein" began. In 2010, a administrative cooperation with the "Stiftung Moritzburg — Kunstmuseum des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt" began, with transfer of operations in 2013. In 2014, fiduciary administration of the non-independent "Stiftung Moritzburg — Kunstmuseum des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt" followed.
