Overview

Korona World Co., Ltd. (株式会社コロナワールド) is a Japanese company headquartered in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, that operates the regional complex amusement facility brand "Korona World" and the cinema chain "Cinema World" (シネマワールド). The company traces its origins to 1926, when Shinseikan Co., Ltd. was established in the former Kochino Town, Niwa District, Aichi Prefecture (present-day Konan City), and the Shinseikan theater opened. Over the decades it expanded from theater operation into a broad leisure and entertainment business. The Korona World facilities are large multi-purpose amusement complexes that typically combine a cinema (Cinema World), pachinko and slot parlor (Pachinko Corona), bowling (Corona Cat Bowl), a natural hot spring bathhouse (Corona no Yu), arcade game centers, karaoke, and food and dining outlets. The brand has expanded across Japan, with locations in Aichi, Kanagawa, Miyagi, Gifu, and other regions, and has also operated businesses such as internet cafes, sports clubs, and a business hotel (Castle Inn). Cinema World is the company's cinema complex chain. It is known for late-night screenings even on weekdays, for being located inside amusement complexes, and for its traveling screening business. In April 2013 it became the first in Japan to introduce the 4DX motion-seat system, and theaters opened or renovated in the 2020s have adopted premium large formats such as Dolby Atmos and IMAX. The company was renamed from Corona Co., Ltd. (株式会社コロナ) to Korona World Co., Ltd. in January 2015. It continues to operate and renovate its facilities, including major renewal projects at locations such as Anjo Korona World and Nakagawa Korona World.
