Klinik Augustinum München

Augustinum Klinik is a specialist clinic for internal medicine (Fachklinik für Innere Medizin). Its specialty departments provide high-performance medicine in an atmosphere shaped by family-like interaction, combining medical and nursing commitment. The clinic's cardiology and intensive care department carries out diagnostics and therapy for all cardiological conditions; its gastroenterology department treats diseases of the digestive tract and liver; and its nephrology and rheumatology department specializes in diagnosing and treating kidney and rheumatic diseases. The clinic cooperates with the heart clinic of the LMU Klinikum of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, opening up all treatment options of a modern cardiac surgery operating centre within the clinic. It also operates a Chest-Pain-Unit (CPU) for diagnosing conditions such as acute coronary syndrome, stroke or pulmonary embolism. Clinic director is Ingo Rebmann.

The Augustinum group traces its beginnings to 1962, when Gertrud Rückert, who founded the Augustinum with her husband Georg Rückert, established the Philadelphian service; in its founding year 16 young women took part, and today more than 200 volunteers nationwide take part each year in the Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ) and Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD) in nearly all Augustinum facilities.
