Overview
Kinpodo Matsumoto Industry Co., Ltd. is a Japanese metal container manufacturer headquartered in Taito-ku, Tokyo. Founded in May 1905 by Matsumoto Itaro as Kinpodo Matsumoto Buriki Seikansho in what is now the company's head office location in Higashi-Ueno, the firm has been engaged in tin-can manufacturing for more than a century. It was reorganized and incorporated as Kinpodo Matsumoto Industry Co., Ltd. in 1939. The company's core business is the manufacture and sale of original, made-to-order cans, alongside a line of ready-made plain cans for smaller-lot orders. Its product range includes confectionery tins such as cookie and rice-cracker cans, as well as highly airtight cans for nori seaweed, black tea, and coffee. It also offers inkjet and silk-screen printing services for can decoration. Customers span long-established department stores, gift, confectionery, pharmaceutical, stationery, miscellaneous goods, and sightseeing souvenir businesses, as well as newer clients in theme parks, fancy goods, apparel, and cosmetics. Kinpodo Matsumoto Industry operates three factories — the Angyo Factory, the Shiga Factory, and the Saga Taku Factory — and maintains a Tokyo head office, an Osaka branch, and a Kyushu sales office. The company is supported by affiliated companies including Kinpodo Transport Co., Ltd., Kinpodo Printing Industry Co., Ltd., and Shinden Engineering Co., Ltd., which together allow it to handle production through to delivery within the group. It has held ISO 9001 certification since 2001. The current president is Matsumoto Akio, and the company employs approximately 200 people with capital of 100,000,000 yen. Kinpodo positions itself around the idea of "wrapping and coloring sincerity" through the single path of can-making, emphasizing craftsmanship, technical capability, and the ability to meet diverse packaging needs. Its corporate philosophy centers on delivering richness and joy to all people through the can-manufacturing business, with a management stance of sincerity and dedication.
