In 2022, the CSRC issued its final penalty over Kingenta's financial fraud, finding that from 2015 through the first half of 2018 the company had inflated cumulative revenue by RMB 23.073 billion through fictitious trades with no physical flow of goods, among other means. Those responsible were penalized, former actual controller Wan Lianbu was banned from the market for life, and investors' subsequent compensation claims were partially upheld by the courts.
