King Estate Winery

King Estate Winery is a winery located in Oregon's Willamette Valley near Eugene. It was founded in 1991 by the King family with a commitment to sustainable farming, and it states that it is the largest Biodynamic certified vineyard in North America. The estate produces wines from its organic and certified Biodynamic vineyard as well as from partner sustainably farmed vineyards, and its portfolio includes King Estate, Single Vineyard, Innovation, and North by Northwest wines. The winery also operates The Restaurant at King Estate, which opened in 2006, and its wines are distributed across the country and around the world.

King Estate Winery was founded in 1991 by the King family with a deep commitment to sustainable farming. Ed King founded the winery with his father, Ed King, Jr. (1921–2012). The family's enterprising roots trace to Kansas City, Missouri, where Ed King, Jr. started King Radio Corporation after a career designing Navy aircraft electronics during World War II. By 1990, the younger Ed King owned timberland and farmland that included two small vineyards, and a search for hay led him to a 600-acre ranch on the outskirts of Eugene, Oregon, which he and his father purchased to establish the winery. Over the years, other family members joined the business as owners and staff. The winery added neighboring parcels and opened its restaurant in 2006, becoming one of Oregon's largest and most successful wineries, with distribution across the country and around the world. King Estate states that it is the largest Biodynamic certified vineyard in North America, and its vineyard spans 460 acres of grapevines.
