Overview
Kessler + Luch was a German industrial company and later an engineering services provider based in Gießen. It was founded in 1948 by Ernst Keßler. After the founder's death in 1974, the business was sold to Steag in Essen. Over the following years Kessler + Luch employed more than 1,000 people nationwide at times, spread across 16 branches. Its specialities were air technology for product protection, in particular cleanroom technology and air technology for occupational and environmental protection. Effective 1 August 2000, the company became a subsidiary of Thyssen-Krupp AG and was merged with four other companies into ThyssenKrupp HiServ. At that time Kessler + Luch employed 740 people and generated annual revenue of 285 million DM. Effective 1 October 2004, ThyssenKrupp HiServ was sold to Wisag, and the company name was changed to HiServ Gebäudedienstleistungen GmbH. From 1970 Kessler + Luch also included a research and development department based in Gießen. Its task was to support the branches through research and new developments. From 1 January 2007 this former department, with 15 employees, was run independently within the Wisag group as Kessler + Luch Entwicklungs- und Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG. Its work focused on industrial air technology, ventilation and air-conditioning technology for non-residential buildings, smoke extraction from buildings, cleanroom technology, flow simulation and hygiene inspection of ventilation and drinking water systems. Kessler + Luch is the patent holder of the Wirbelhaube (swirl hood). Effective 1 January 2024, the Kessler + Luch name was abandoned and the business operations were fully transferred to Wisag Gebäude- und Industrieservice Hessen GmbH & Co. KG.
