Overview
Keiba Ace (競馬エース) is a Japanese horse-racing newspaper (keiba shinbun) published by Ace Media Co., Ltd. (エースメディア株式会社), headquartered in Yatomi, Aichi Prefecture, inside the Nagoya Racecourse. It is one of the few remaining specialist papers covering local (regional) horse racing in the Tokai region, focusing on Nagoya Keiba and Kasamatsu Keiba. The paper provides race cards, trackman commentary, training reports, past performance data, and betting predictions. The brand dates back to 1968, when the newspaper was first launched. Over the decades, the publishing company absorbed rival titles: it acquired the publisher of Chukyo specialist paper Keiba Fan in 1973, absorbed Keishin in 1991, and absorbed Keiba Tokai in 2002. The corporate entity Keiba Ace Co., Ltd. was established in 1989 and later merged with Keiba Fan Co., Ltd. in 2004. In 2020, it absorbed Kumihan Giko Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Ace Media Co., Ltd. In 2022, the head office moved from Nagoya's Minato Ward to the new Nagoya Racecourse in Yatomi. Keiba Ace is sold at Nagoya and Kasamatsu racecourses, off-track betting facilities nationwide, and via online stores and convenience-store print services. It also offers a digital PDF edition. The paper is known for its detailed race-card layout, including original symbols and terms specific to Tokai public racing, and for its team of trackmen and editors who provide predictions and analysis. As of 2025, Ace Media is the only company publishing local horse-racing specialist papers in the Tokai region, giving it a de facto monopoly in that niche.
