Overview
Kasuga Electric Works, Ltd. (KASUGA DENKI, INC.) is a Japanese company established in 1955 in Tokyo, engaged in the manufacture and sale of industrial electrical equipment. Its product history centers on static electricity removal devices, electrostatic measurement instruments, and corona surface treatment equipment. The company relocated its head office and factory to Kawasaki, Kanagawa in 2012 and holds ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications.
History
Kasuga Electric Works was established in May 1955 in Todoroki, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, with capital of 1 million yen. In 1956 it began manufacturing and selling static electricity removal devices, followed by a collector-type potential measuring instrument in 1957 and film static elimination and dust removal equipment in 1960. Fan-type and nozzle-type static eliminators and a double-sheet prevention device were introduced in 1964, and corona surface treatment equipment and charging devices for static application products in 1965. The head office moved to Hamamatsucho, Minato-ku in 1966, and capital was increased to 20 million yen. In 1968 an electrostatic charge meter was launched. In 1969 the head office factory was completed in Higashikamata, Ota-ku, and capital was increased to 40 million yen. Explosion-proof static eliminators were introduced in 1971, and thyristor-type corona surface treatment equipment in 1972, when capital was increased to 90 million yen. In 1978 an intrinsically safe collector-type potential measuring instrument was launched. In 1979 the company received a Progress Award from the Institute of Electrostatics Japan for its long-standing development and standardization of static electricity-related equipment, and launched transistor-type corona surface treatment equipment and a small tape inserter for printing and office machines. In 1986 an intrinsically safe continuous static monitoring device and a vibration-type handheld digital electrostatic potential meter were launched. In 1987 a high-frequency static eliminator was introduced. In 1990 DC-type static eliminators and IGBT-based corona surface treatment equipment were launched. In 1991 the sales and accounting departments moved to Minamikamata, Ota-ku. In 1994 a special explosion-proof static eliminator was introduced. In 1995 a new static elimination technology for removing static marks, the high-density static elimination processing system, was launched. In 1996 a jet air type water remover and a coulomb meter for the electronics industry were launched. In 1998 a handheld intrinsically safe digital electrostatic potential meter was launched. In 1999 the company obtained ISO9001 certification (certification number JQA-3151). In 2000 it began manufacturing and selling surface potential sensors. In 2004 it celebrated its 50th anniversary and received a Progress Award from the Institute of Electrostatics Japan for the development of the high-density static elimination processing system. In 2005 it obtained ISO14001 certification (certification number JQA-EM4996). In 2006 the development of the high-density static elimination processing system received an Invention Merit Award at the 31st Invention Awards of the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation. In 2007 the same development received a Science and Technology Award (Technology Division) from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In 2008 it received a Progress Award from the Institute of Electrostatics Japan for the development of an internal pressure explosion-proof flange-type static eliminator. In 2009 the jet air type water remover received an Encouragement Award at the 20th Ota-ku Small and Medium Enterprise New Product and New Technology Contest. In 2010 a high-density static elimination processing system for molded products received the top prize at the 21st Ota-ku Small and Medium Enterprise New Product and New Technology Contest. In 2012 the head office factory, sales headquarters, and logistics center were relocated to Shinkawasaki, Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa. In 2014 Mimamoru Earth received an Excellence Award at the 18th Fire and Disaster Prevention Science and Technology Awards. In 2016 Mimamoru Earth received a Progress Award from the Institute of Electrostatics Japan. In 2018 the development of a static eliminator for digital printing presses received a Progress Award and Masuda Award from the Institute of Electrostatics Japan. In 2019 the company began handling products from the U.S. company PROSTAT.
