Overview

KASTNER Gruppe is one of the leading Austrian wholesalers for gastronomy, hotel industry, and food retail. It offers a broad range of food and beverages, innovative services, and customer service. The company is a family business with a tradition in the Waldviertel region.

History

The first written evidence of a general store of the Kastner family in the Waldviertel is a tax assessment from January 1828. The first location was a general store in Kirchbach in the Waldviertel, owned by Ignaz Kastner. Later, Ignaz Kastner opened another general store in Rappottenstein. In 1903, Ignaz's son Franz Kastner and his wife Anna moved to Zwettl and laid the foundation for wholesale activities. In 1923, KommR Karl Kastner and his wife Josefa took over the business and led it until 1964. During World War II, KASTNER primarily served a supply function. In 1956, Kastner joined the group 'Freie Leistungsgemeinschaft A&O'. In 1962, KommR Peter Kastner joined the company and led it from 1964 to 2006. In 1964, a new warehouse was built in Zwettl.
