History
According to the brand's own history page, Karmann has been manufacturing motorhomes since 1977, when Wilhelm Karmann found the model for his first motorhome in South Africa. T2 motorhomes were followed by models on Mercedes chassis. In parallel Karmann developed its own caravan, the Postillion, offered as Postillion 4500 and 5000, but the core competence lay clearly in the motorized sector, so caravan production was discontinued after a few years. In 2000 the company Karmann-Mobil was sold to Eura Mobil and continued as an independent brand within the Eura Mobil Group. In 2011 Karmann-Mobil started a broad market and product offensive in camper vans, with the new Dexter series and the expansion of the established Davis series to cover the complete market segment for panel vans.
