Karl Pichler AG is a family-owned wholesale company based in Algund (Lagundo) in South Tyrol, Italy, specialising in wood, wood-based materials, wood flooring, decking and facade solutions. Founded on 10 May 1958 by Karl "Schaly" Pichler and his wife Herta, the business began with a small 70–80 m² warehouse, one employee and a small OM Tigrotto delivery truck. Over more than six decades it has grown into a regional specialist wholesaler serving carpenters, joiners, floor layers, architects and interested end customers. The company's product range centres on decorative and structural wood-based panels, including the EGGER collection, as well as flooring, terrace and facade systems. It also distributes products from partners such as Fundermax. The founder Karl Pichler died unexpectedly at the end of 2021. The third generation entered the company in 2013 with Manuela Bertagnolli as marketing manager. Karl Pichler AG was founded on 10 May 1958 by Karl "Schaly" Pichler and his wife Herta in Algund, South Tyrol. The couple opened their business with a 70–80 m² warehouse, one employee and a small OM Tigrotto delivery truck with a loading platform, which they purchased for 220,000 lire. On the same day they announced the opening with an advertisement in the newspaper. Over the following decades the company established itself as a specialist wholesaler for wood and wood-based materials. In 1979 Renate Pichler joined the family business immediately after completing her education at the commercial high school in Bozen and Meran. She followed in her mother's footsteps and took charge of administration and human resources. In 1986 Christian Pichler joined the company at the age of 23 after relevant training and professional experience. In 1990 the Brixen (Bressanone) branch was opened, and Christian Pichler took over its management, introducing important innovations in sales, logistics and IT. On 1 January 1992 the Bozen (Bolzano) branch was opened, managed by Roland Bertagnolli, the husband of Renate Pichler, bringing another family member into the sales organisation. In 1993, following Austria's accession to the EU, the company expanded its sales territory to North Tyrol through a partner company in Kematen in Tirol. In 2004 Renate and Christian Pichler officially took over the management of the company, marking the generational change. In 2008 the new headquarters in Algund was inaugurated, with all halls being modernised in the 2000s. The founder Karl "Schaly" Pichler, who served as President of the Board of Directors, died unexpectedly at the end of 2021. He placed the company trustingly in the hands of his two children, Christian and Renate Pichler. In 2013 Manuela Bertagnolli joined as Marketing Manager, representing the third generation in the company. Today Karl Pichler AG operates from its main site in Algund and branches in Brixen and Bozen, serving carpenters, joiners, floor layers and architects with a broad range of wood-based materials, flooring, decking and facade solutions.
