KAMO's Distribution Dispatch Services (DDS) group provides 24/7 support for utilities, including electric, fiber, and other subsidiary services.

History

KAMO's story began during a transformative period in rural electrification across Oklahoma and the surrounding region. During these early years, KAMO was formed by member-owner cooperatives, secured its first federal financing through the REA, began building its transmission system, and started delivering power generated from Pensacola Dam into Missouri. Despite setbacks during World War II, the cooperative laid the groundwork for what would become a regional generation and transmission organization serving thousands of rural consumers. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order creating the Rural Electrification Administration (REA), and the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) was established by Oklahoma legislation. In 1940, Pensacola Dam turbines became operational. In 1941, KAMO Power was incorporated on April 15 by twelve rural electric cooperatives across Oklahoma and Missouri, laying the foundation for a regional generation and transmission cooperative focused on bringing reliable electric service to rural communities. The original incorporating cooperatives included Barton County Electric Cooperative, Central Rural Electric Cooperative, East Central Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Indian Electric Cooperative, New-Mac Electric Cooperative, Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Ozark Electric Cooperative, Ozarks Electric Cooperative, Sac Osage Electric Cooperative, Sekan Electric Cooperative, Southwest Electric Cooperative, and White River Valley Electric Cooperative. Later that year, Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative and Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative both became member-owner cooperatives.
