History

Kabinet MÚZ is a music club in Brno, Czech Republic, with a history dating back to 1991. The space originally housed HaDivadlo until 2003, when the theater moved to the Alfa passage. Subsequently, Divadlo v 7 a půl operated there but received an eviction notice three years later due to rent debt. The space was then used by the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts for non-public student rehearsals, but they had to leave in 2009 due to high rent. In 2012, a new team decided to revive Kabinet MÚZ. From September 2012, Divadlo Feste performed there. In April 2016, a regular film screening cycle called 'Kabinet Filmúz' began, led by Jan Churý and Jaromír Franta. The club has since become a key venue for alternative music, hosting numerous international and Czech artists. It is also the home of Kabinet Records, a music label, and publishes a monthly magazine, MUZIN.
