Overview
Köfteci Ramiz is a Turkish restaurant chain known for its köfte (meatballs). The story began in 1928 in a small shop with chairs made from lemon crates. Today, it continues to grow as a global brand, with 150 branches in Turkey and 7 branches internationally, introducing Turkish köfte to the world.
History
The story began in 1928 in a small shop with chairs made from lemon crates. The founders were two orphaned brothers born in Pirlepe, Macedonia, at the beginning of the 20th century. After losing their father in the Balkan War and their mother at a young age, they migrated to Turkey with their grandmother. They developed a type of grilled köfte similar to that made by street vendors in Macedonia and opened a small shop in Akhisar. The köfte was made entirely from beef, with only salt and onion, served on butter-fried pita pieces with grilled green peppers and tomatoes. Köfteci Ramiz had five children; after his death in 1970, his children continued the legacy. In 2000, they opened a branch on the Istanbul-Izmir highway, contributing to the brand's expansion.
