On 17 July 2009, separate suicide bombings struck the JW Marriott and adjacent Ritz-Carlton hotels. Seven people were killed across the two properties and more than 50 were injured.
2003
2003 JW Marriott Jakarta bombing
A suicide car bomb detonated outside the lobby on 5 August 2003, killing 12 people and injuring approximately 150. The hotel closed for about five weeks before reopening.
