Overview

JAGGAER is an enterprise software company headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, that provides cloud-based procurement, spend-management, sourcing, supplier-collaboration, and supply-chain software. The business was established in 1995 as SciQuest, originally operating as a business-to-business electronic commerce exchange. It later shifted its strategic emphasis toward e-procurement software and supplier-enablement tools, a transition that began around 2001 as organizations increasingly sought to digitize purchasing, supplier interaction, and internal approval workflows. SciQuest developed a broad procurement software portfolio through organic expansion and acquisitions. Its capabilities came to include e-procurement, inventory management, accounts-payable automation, contract lifecycle management, spend analysis, advanced sourcing, supplier management, and direct-materials procurement. The company pursued public-market financing in 1999, was taken private in 2004, and completed a second initial public offering in September 2010. In June 2016, Accel-KKR acquired SciQuest and took the company private again in a transaction reported at approximately $509 million. In February 2017, SciQuest adopted the JAGGAER name and repositioned itself as a broader source-to-pay technology provider. The rebrand accompanied an expansion beyond its historical concentration in higher education and public-sector procurement into manufacturing, healthcare, consumer packaged goods, retail, life sciences, logistics, and other industries. The company strengthened its direct-materials and supply-chain capabilities through the acquisition of European specialist Pool4Tool in June 2017, followed by the acquisition of spend-management provider BravoSolution in December 2017. JAGGAER introduced JAGGAER One in February 2019 as a unified software platform intended to bring its product portfolio together across source-to-contract and procure-to-pay activities. The platform covers spend analytics, category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, procurement, supply-chain collaboration, invoicing, and payments. Additional capabilities include supplier intelligence, supplier-network services, and embedded artificial-intelligence features intended to assist procurement decisions and automate selected workflows. The company changed ownership again in July 2019, when Cinven acquired a majority stake in a transaction reported at approximately $1.5 billion. Jim Bureau subsequently became chief executive officer. Andy Hovancik was announced as CEO in June 2023 after Bureau's departure in March of that year. In August 2024, Vista Equity Partners acquired JAGGAER. Andrew Roszko was appointed CEO in June 2025, succeeding Hovancik. JAGGAER serves organizations in sectors including manufacturing, higher education, government, energy and utilities, financial services, healthcare, retail, and transportation and logistics. Its stated customer base includes large multinational enterprises as well as public and educational institutions.

History

JAGGAER traces its origins to SciQuest, a company established in 1995 as a business-to-business electronic commerce exchange. Its early model focused on facilitating commercial transactions between organizations and suppliers. In 1999, SciQuest went public, but the company subsequently changed direction as the enterprise-software market developed and customers increasingly sought integrated systems for purchasing and supplier administration. Around 2001, SciQuest moved away from the exchange model and concentrated on e-procurement software and supplier-enablement platforms. The transition positioned the company closer to the operational systems used by purchasing departments, universities, government agencies, and large businesses. During the following years, SciQuest expanded into adjacent procurement functions, including inventory management and accounts-payable automation. It was taken private in 2004, allowing the business to continue its product and market development outside the public markets. The company returned to public ownership in September 2010 through a second initial public offering that raised approximately $57 million. Its acquisition program then broadened the platform. AECsoft, acquired in January 2011, contributed supplier-management and sourcing technology. Upside Software, acquired in August 2012, added contract lifecycle management capabilities, while Spend Radar, acquired in October 2012, strengthened spend-analysis functionality. CombineNet, acquired in September 2013, added advanced sourcing technology. In June 2016, Accel-KKR acquired SciQuest and took it private in a transaction reported at approximately $509 million. Under private ownership, the company adopted a wider market and product strategy. In February 2017, it rebranded as JAGGAER and emphasized an integrated source-to-pay suite. The new identity accompanied a deliberate expansion from the company's established higher-education and public-sector base into manufacturing, healthcare, consumer packaged goods, retail, life sciences, logistics, and other industries. JAGGAER made two important acquisitions in 2017. Pool4Tool, acquired in June, was a European specialist in direct-materials procurement and supply-chain management. BravoSolution, acquired in December, was a spend-management software provider. Together, the transactions extended JAGGAER beyond indirect procurement and helped it address both direct and indirect categories in a broader enterprise purchasing environment. In February 2019, the company launched JAGGAER One, a unified platform consolidating its product portfolio. The platform was designed to connect sourcing, contract management, procurement, invoicing, payments, spend analysis, supplier collaboration, and related workflows. Later that year, in July, Cinven acquired a majority stake in JAGGAER in a transaction reported at approximately $1.5 billion. Jim Bureau became chief executive officer after the transaction. Bureau left the CEO role in March 2023, and Andy Hovancik was announced as his successor in June 2023. In August 2024, Vista Equity Partners acquired JAGGAER. Andrew Roszko became chief executive officer in June 2025, succeeding Hovancik, and Brandon Nussey was appointed chief financial officer in December 2025. The modern JAGGAER business is centered on cloud software for source-to-pay operations and supplier collaboration. Its customer markets include manufacturing, higher education, the public sector, energy and utilities, financial services, healthcare, retail, and transportation and logistics. The portfolio includes sourcing, category management, spend analytics, contract management, purchasing, supply-chain collaboration, invoicing, payments, supplier intelligence, and artificial-intelligence functionality. The company also operates supplier-network and community-oriented services intended to improve supplier discovery, onboarding, compliance, and performance management.
