On 27 April 2015, French technology-services group Capgemini announced an agreement to acquire IGATE for approximately 4 billion US dollars. The transaction was intended to combine IGATE's delivery capabilities and customer relationships with Capgemini's global consulting and technology-services platform. Integration was planned over approximately six months. IGATE chief executive Ashok Vemuri announced his departure on 6 October 2015. In January 2016, Capgemini stated that the business would operate exclusively under the Capgemini brand, marking the end of IGATE as a standalone commercial identity. The brand is therefore defunct, although many of its operations, employees, customer relationships, and capabilities became part of Capgemini.

On 27 April 2015, Capgemini announced its agreement to acquire IGATE for approximately 4 billion US dollars. The acquisition brought IGATE into one of Europe's largest technology-services groups and was designed to combine the two companies' delivery networks, capabilities, and customer bases. IGATE CEO Ashok Vemuri announced his departure on 6 October 2015. In January 2016, Capgemini announced that the acquired operations would operate solely under the Capgemini brand. This completed the effective retirement of IGATE as an independent corporate brand.
