HECO

HECO is a German manufacturer of screws and fastening elements. The company was founded in 1888 by Karl Hettich in Schramberg in the Black Forest. It is one of the most significant screw manufacturers in Germany. HECO offers products for wood construction, engineered timber construction, anchoring in concrete and masonry, furniture and kitchen construction, and interior applications. The company emphasizes innovation, quality, and partnerships.

The history of HECO begins in 1888 in the bedroom of Karl Hettich, a tinkerer in Schramberg. He invented a bending machine for the production of pendulum escapements used in the watch industry. After Karl Hettich's early death, his sons expanded the business. In 1936, the Hettich company entered screw production. In 1967, Ludwig Hettich, a grandson of the founder, separated the screw production from Franz Hettich KG and converted it into Ludwig Hettich & Co Schraubenfabrik, marking the birth of HECO. After Ludwig Hettich died in 1975, his eldest son Stefan Hettich took over management. In 2006, Guido Hettich joined as another managing director. In 2015, the Swiss company SFS entered a strategic partnership with HECO. Since 2018, Achim Carstanjen has led the company, which today employs 400 people at two sites.
