Guinness share-trading fraud
During the takeover battle for Distillers, Guinness and associated parties arranged and financed purchases of Guinness shares. The transactions were intended to raise or support Guinness's share price and thereby strengthen the value of its offer. The investigation led to criminal and regulatory proceedings, and chief executive Ernest Saunders resigned.
