Grabower Süsswaren

Grabower Süsswaren is a German confectionery and baked-goods manufacturer based in Grabow, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Its origins date to 1835, when Johann Bollhagen established a bakery producing pretzels, waffles, and pepper nuts. The business later expanded beyond its local market under Gustav Ritter, who acquired it in 1902 and developed broader distribution and export activity. This early transition from a regional bakery to a larger commercial producer established the foundation for the company’s later industrial development. Following the Second World War, the company was nationalized in 1951 and operated as VEB Grabower Dauerbackwaren.
