Francebed

Francebed Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company that manufactures and sells beds, furniture, bedding, health equipment, and welfare equipment. It also rents and sells welfare equipment and provides linen supply services. The company was established in 1946 and is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The predecessor, Futaba Seisakusho, was founded in 1949 in Mitaka, Tokyo, by founder Ikeda Minoru, initially manufacturing vehicle seats. In 1952, it was reorganized into Futaba Seisakusho Co., Ltd. In 1956, production of split beds under the trademark 'Francebed' began. In 1961, the company name was changed to Francebed Co., Ltd. In 1963, it was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and later on the Osaka and Nagoya exchanges. In 1966, it was listed on the First Section of all three exchanges. In 1967, it entered a technical partnership with Sealy Inc. of the U.S., and in 1968 with Multilastic of the UK. In 1970, it entered technical partnerships with Slumberland of the UK and Caravel Air of the U.S. In 1975, it signed a design license agreement with Pierre Cardin for beds. In 2024, the company celebrated its 75th anniversary.
