Overview

FL Technics is an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. Founded in 2005, it began with a maintenance hangar at Vilnius International Airport and developed into a multi-site aviation-support business serving airlines, aircraft owners, lessors and other aviation operators. Its work covers both scheduled and unscheduled technical support, with capabilities spanning base maintenance, line maintenance, continuing airworthiness management, component and spare-parts support, engine and auxiliary power unit services, landing-gear management, engineering, training, aircraft design and production, wheels and brakes, and aviation logistics. The company operates within Avia Solutions Group, an aviation-services group whose portfolio includes aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance operations as well as airline, charter, training, ground-handling and logistics businesses. FL Technics functions as the group’s dedicated MRO platform and supports aircraft from manufacturers including Boeing, Airbus, ATR, Embraer and Bombardier. Its regulatory footprint includes EASA Part-145 maintenance approval, Part-CAMO continuing-airworthiness approval, Part-147 training approval and Part-21 design and production approval, together with approvals or certifications from authorities including the United States Federal Aviation Administration, the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority. FL Technics expanded beyond Lithuania through acquisitions, certification extensions, new line stations and the development of overseas base-maintenance infrastructure. The 2011 acquisition of Storm Aviation in the United Kingdom materially broadened its line-maintenance network and aircraft coverage, including widebody types. Subsequent expansion added facilities and operations in the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and the Caribbean. The company has also developed specialist shops for engines, wheels and brakes and has supported aircraft operators through technical training and continuing-airworthiness services. By the 2020s, FL Technics was investing particularly heavily in narrowbody MRO capacity in the Asia-Pacific and Caribbean regions. Its Indonesian operations included facilities in Jakarta and Bali, while projects in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, were intended to establish a larger regional base-maintenance hub. The Bali facility opened in 2024 with a six-aircraft hangar focused on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family work. The company also announced plans for a wheels-and-brakes facility at Milan Bergamo Airport. Its current positioning is that of an independent, internationally certified MRO provider combining airline-facing maintenance with component, engine, training, engineering and logistics capabilities.

History

FL Technics was established in Lithuania in 2005 and opened its first hangar at Vilnius International Airport. A second Vilnius hangar followed in 2007, creating a larger base for airframe maintenance, warehousing and backshop work. During 2009 the company signed periodic-maintenance and technical-support agreements involving Boeing 737 aircraft and adopted the FL Technics name. The company broadened its technical scope in 2010 and 2011. It added Boeing 737NG maintenance, ATR theoretical training, Airbus A318-A321 support and Embraer EMB-135/145 airworthiness capabilities. It began servicing Airbus A320 aircraft, added engineering capability for the Bombardier CL600-2B19, and carried out cabin modification and repair projects. Aircraft acquired for disassembly, including Boeing 737 aircraft, helped expand its inventory of usable parts and components. Its line-maintenance network also grew across Central Asia and Europe. A major turning point came in September 2011, when FL Technics acquired Storm Aviation in the United Kingdom. The transaction expanded the company’s line-maintenance reach and added support for aircraft such as the Airbus A330, A340 and A380 and Boeing 747, 767 and 777. In 2012, FL Technics became a regional sales representative for Aero Inventory, extending its parts-support activity in Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. During the 2020s, the company pursued a broader international MRO strategy. It expanded regulatory approvals for Boeing 787 maintenance, Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM inspections, Airbus A220, Boeing 737 MAX and Boeing 787 CAMO support, Airbus A350 training and CFM56 engine maintenance. It opened or developed specialist facilities for wheels and brakes and engine work, launched operations in Abu Dhabi, and unified acquired businesses under the FL Technics brand in 2022. International infrastructure became a central theme from 2023 onward. FL Technics began developing MRO capacity at Punta Cana International Airport and participated in a large Indonesian MRO project at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The Bali base-maintenance facility opened in December 2024 with six bays for Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family aircraft. A Punta Cana center with five planned base-maintenance bays was also under development, while a Milan Bergamo wheels-and-brakes shop was planned for 2025. Through these investments, FL Technics has evolved from a Lithuanian airframe-maintenance operation into a geographically distributed, multi-disciplinary MRO provider within Avia Solutions Group.
