History
According to the FAAC USA history page, in 1965 Giuseppe Manini, then a building contractor, noticed that gates were always left open in residential communities because people had to get out of the car to open them and no one went back to close them. He crafted hydraulic technology that resulted in the 750 built-in operators, described as the first underground swing gate operator, followed by the 400, described as the first on-swing-gate model. The page states that great demand led to the need for a sales network for distribution. In the 1975/1984 period, the company's original small-scale production system was transformed into an industrial mass production system capable of maintaining high quality standards; the 402 was the first product created by the new series production system. Die-cast aluminium molds were introduced, new materials like POM for valves were developed, and Gerotor pumps were adopted. The first subsidiaries opened, connected directly to the central plant, ensuring distribution of products abroad, and the first training courses began. Success extended outside Italy and led to the opening of two affiliates, and in Zola Predosa work began on what was to become the headquarters. The FAAC Group page states that Fabbrica Automatismi Apertura Cancelli (FAAC) was founded in 1965 and immediately became synonymous with automation for gates all around the world.
