Disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy is a large cruise ship owned and operated by Disney Cruise Line, the cruise subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It is the fourth ship in Disney Cruise Line's fleet and the second vessel in the Dream class, following Disney Dream, which entered service in 2011. Rather than functioning as a standalone consumer-goods brand, Disney Fantasy is a branded hospitality and entertainment platform: the ship combines cruise transportation, accommodation, dining, children's programming, live theater, cinematic entertainment, character experiences, and Disney-themed environments in one onboard product. Disney Fantasy was developed as part of Disney Cruise Line's expansion into larger ships. In February 2007, Disney announced that it had commissioned two new vessels from Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The pair became the Dream class, with Disney Fantasy planned as the second ship after Disney Dream. The new class was materially larger than Disney Cruise Line's earlier Magic-class ships, increasing capacity and allowing the company to add more entertainment, recreation, dining, and accommodation spaces. Forty-eight cabins were reported damaged, and remedial work was required. The ship was floated out of the building dock on January 10, 2012, completed in February, and delivered to Disney Cruise Line in Bremerhaven on February 9. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to suspension of cruise departures. Disney Cruise Line extended the suspension several times, and Disney Fantasy returned to service on September 11, 2021. A later sailing encountered a pandemic-related operational restriction when passengers could not disembark at St. Thomas on December 30, 2021, following a rise in onboard cases. The ship's deployment broadened in 2025 when it operated European itineraries from Southampton, its first European season. Later that year it entered drydock at Damen Shipyard in Brest, France. The work included renovations to selected spaces, the addition of a concierge tower suite, refreshed poolside food service, and improvements to the spa and concierge lounge.
