CS One Ten, Ltd. (株式会社シーエス・ワンテン) is a Japanese satellite broadcasting company that serves as a satellite core broadcasting operator (衛星基幹放送事業者) on the Sky PerfecTV! platform, which uses communications satellites at the 110-degree east longitude orbital position. It is a consolidated subsidiary of TV Asahi Holdings Corporation and is part of the TV Asahi group. The company is headquartered in the EX Tower in Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The company was established on April 10, 2001, after receiving certification from the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on December 25, 2000, to conduct entrusted broadcasting operations for 110-degree east CS digital broadcasting. It began full-scale broadcasting on July 1, 2002, on the Sky PerfecTV! 2 platform (now Sky PerfecTV!). Initially, Universal Pictures had planned to provide two channels, "Studio Universal" and "13th Street," but those plans were abandoned. CS One Ten operates several television channels on Sky PerfecTV!, including TV Asahi Channel 1 (drama, variety, anime), TV Asahi Channel 2 (news, information, sports), MTV, Music Air, Disney Junior, BBC News, and CNNj. The company also formerly operated data broadcasting services such as One Ten Portal. Over the years, it has transitioned channels to high-definition broadcasting and adjusted channel numbers and slot allocations. In 2012, TV Asahi acquired shares in CS One Ten from a satellite channel company, making it a consolidated subsidiary, and in 2014 it became a wholly owned subsidiary of TV Asahi Holdings Corporation. The company's channels are available to subscribers of Sky PerfecTV! and can be accessed via the CS button on digital TV remote controls. CS One Ten has also issued warnings about fraudulent contract activities by individuals impersonating its employees.

History

CS One Ten, Ltd. was established on April 10, 2001, following certification from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on December 25, 2000, to operate entrusted broadcasting services for 110-degree east CS digital broadcasting. Initially, Universal Pictures planned to provide two channels, "Studio Universal" and "13th Street," but these plans were abandoned. Full-scale broadcasting began on July 1, 2002, on the Sky PerfecTV! 2 platform (now Sky PerfecTV!). The company moved its headquarters to the Shin-Aoyama Building on September 29, 2003, and then to the TV Asahi headquarters building on June 4, 2007. In 2012, several key developments occurred. On February 23, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications approved the HD conversion of three channels: TV Asahi Channel (now TV Asahi Channel 1), MTV, and Asahi News Star (now TV Asahi Channel 2). On March 1, BBC World News switched to 16:9 aspect ratio broadcasting. On April 1, TV Asahi acquired shares in CS One Ten from a satellite channel company (which had operated Asahi News Star until March 31, 2012), making CS One Ten a consolidated subsidiary. On December 2, 2013, the headquarters moved to the EX Tower. On April 1, 2014, CS One Ten became a wholly owned subsidiary of TV Asahi Holdings Corporation (which changed its name from TV Asahi Corporation and transitioned to a certified broadcasting holding company on the same date). Also on that date, TV Asahi Channel 2 (News, Sports) was renamed TV Asahi Channel 2 (News, Information, Sports) and its genre was changed from "News" to "General Entertainment." In subsequent years, CS One Ten continued to manage its channel lineup. On August 28, 2018, several channels changed their slot allocations and channel numbers: TV Asahi Channel 1 and 2 were reduced to 12 slots each; MTV moved to CS2-ND4ch with 12 slots; Music Air moved to CS2-ND6ch and changed its channel number from Ch.326 to Ch.324; Disney Junior moved to CS1-ND2ch and began HD broadcasting. On September 15, 2017, CS One Ten took over the core broadcasting operations of Disney Junior from Broadcast Satellite Disney. On April 3, 2023, BBC World News was renamed BBC News. The company has also operated data broadcasting services, including One Ten Portal (Ch.110) and Go Meijin / Asahi Open Shogi (Ch.360), which have since ended.
