Crown Decorating Centres

Crown Decorating Centres is the decorating retail network of Crown Paints, a paint maker whose heritage the company dates back to 1777. The official site describes a network of over 140 Crown Decorating Centres located throughout the UK and Ireland, with head offices in Darwen, Lancashire, and a manufacturing site in Hull. The centres sell trade paints and decorating supplies, stocking brands including Crown Trade, Sandtex Exterior, Sadolin Woodcare and Macpherson Trade, alongside third-party decorating brands such as Osmo woodcare and Purdy brushes, rollers and tools.

Crown Paints traces its heritage to 1777, when the Dob Meadows Print shop was established. In the mid-1800s the business moved into wallpaper manufacture, producing Lincrusta and Anaglypta. Experiments into water-based paints began in 1904, with the first batch of paint sold less than two years later; the first paint under the Crown brand name followed about 60 years later. Between 1970 and 1980 Crown Paints introduced Crown Solo one coat paint, Non Drip Gloss and Satin ranges, and Crown Paints Matchpots. Crown Paints was first awarded the Royal Warrant in 1949 as supplier to King George VI, and the warrant was later renewed by Queen Elizabeth II. Today Crown Decorating Centres form a network of over 140 outlets across the UK and Ireland, supported by head offices in Darwen, Lancashire, and a manufacturing site in Hull.

A trade-focused decorating retail network backed by Crown Paints' heritage, serving professional decorators and DIY customers across the UK and Ireland.
