History
Crocus Group's history began on 13 July 1989. Its first large-scale project was an international computer technology exhibition in Moscow, which resulted in unprecedented success, new contracts, and Araz Agalarov's firm decision to develop exhibition activities. In the same years, Crocus Group was also engaged in retail, actively developing supplies of clothing and footwear from other countries. Gradually the company acquired the status of one of the largest, best-known, and most authoritative holding companies in Russia. Over the years of its development, Crocus Group created publicly significant urban development facilities: the Crocus Expo international exhibition centre, the VEGAS shopping and entertainment centre network, the Crocus City Mall luxury shopping complex, Crocus City Oceanarium, the Vegas CityHall concert hall, the Tvoy Dom hypermarket chain, Crocus Bank, and the Agalarov Estate country settlement. The company acted as an investor in the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Moskva River in Krasnogorsk and the first Moscow Metro station to extend beyond the capital into Moscow Oblast, Myakinino. It also became the general contractor for the construction of facilities of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island, stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Kaliningrad and Rostov-on-Don, the first stage of the Central Ring Road, and the Russia pavilion for the Expo 2020 world exhibition. Araz Agalarov established the Muslim Magomayev Cultural and Musical Heritage Fund.
