Overview
Creact Corporation (株式会社クレアクト) is a Japanese technology trading and development company headquartered in Higashi-Gotanda, Shinagawa City, Tokyo. Founded on 7 January 1976 in Minato, Tokyo, the company began by designing and developing electronic measuring instruments and medical devices, and over the decades evolved into a specialist supplier of measurement sensors, welfare and rehabilitation equipment, and custom engineering services. Its registered capital is 42,000,000 yen, and its main banking relationships are with the Gotanda branches of Mitsubishi UFJ Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The company operates across three broad areas. First, it imports and distributes overseas sensor and electronic products, including biosignal measurement systems such as biosignalsplux and the BITalino sensor application kit from Portugal's Plux Wireless Biosignals, inertial measurement and positioning units from MicroStrain and 3DM/SBG, EEG systems from Advanced Brain Monitoring, and eye-tracking devices from Tobii and EyeTracking. Second, it supplies clinical and welfare equipment, including rehabilitation systems, driving simulators, evaluation and rehabilitation tools for unilateral spatial neglect, real-time center-of-gravity feedback devices, and Tobii gaze-input devices for people with severe disabilities. Third, it provides manufacturing services such as synchronized measurement using its instruments and software development, alongside its own self-developed products including Eye Call and the @ATTENTION system. Creact's customer base is heavily research- and healthcare-oriented. Its stated major clients include the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the National Institute of Informatics, RIKEN, the National Institute for Physiological Sciences, national, public and private universities, university hospitals, private hospitals and rehabilitation centers, as well as major automotive, heavy industry, civil engineering and construction firms, electronics and electrical companies, precision equipment makers, and venture and IT companies. A defining chapter in the company's history was its long relationship with Sweden's Tobii Technology. Creact began importing Tobii eye-tracking and communication devices in 2004, and in 2008 jointly established Tobii Technology Japan K.K. with Tobii. In 2011 it took back the sales and support business for communication devices for people with disabilities from Tobii Technology Japan, expanding its offices and staff. In 2014 Creact launched domestic sales of its own Eye Call product and created a product development team to advance welfare-equipment development. The company marked its 50th anniversary in January 2026, describing itself as continuing to pursue new value with expertise and integrity built on decades of experience and trust.
History
Creact Corporation was founded on 7 January 1976 in Minato, Tokyo, where it began designing, developing and selling electronic measuring instruments and medical devices. In May 1978 it concluded a basic design contract with a domestic company and undertook the design of cathode-ray-tube measuring equipment. In December 1980 it signed a development and design basic contract with another domestic company, taking on the design and prototyping of video and medical equipment. In April 1984 it jointly developed an electronic video transmission and reception device with a domestic company and delivered it to a news organization, where it played a role in international sports reporting. In October 1992 the company established Creact International Co., Ltd. and began importing and selling overseas products. In November 1994 it began importing eye trackers (gaze control and input devices) made by the U.S. company ISCAN, starting sales and support and consultation services for rehabilitation and psychology professionals, mainly delivering to universities, RIKEN, AIST and other public institutions. In January 2000 it began design, sales, technical support and consultation for schizophrenia and ADHD simulators with a domestic company. In November 2004 Creact concluded an import, sales and support agreement with Sweden's Tobii Technology for eye-movement measurement devices and communication devices for people with disabilities, serving national and public universities, private universities, various schools and people with disabilities. In May 2008, together with Tobii Technology, it established Tobii Technology Japan K.K., and the import, sales and support of Tobii products was transferred to that company. In December 2011 Creact received back from Tobii Technology Japan the sales and support business for communication devices for people with disabilities, expanded its office and staff, and began serving mainly people with disabilities and public institutions; it also began selling the motion capture system of France's TEA. In November 2012 it began selling EEG measurement products from the U.S. company Advanced Brain Monitoring. In October 2014 it began domestic sales of its self-developed Eye Call product and launched a product development team to promote the development of welfare-equipment-related products; it also began selling the multimodal biosignal measurement system biosignalsplux and the biosensor application development kit BITalino from Portugal's Plux Wireless Biosignals, and eye trackers from the U.S. company EyeTracking. In March 2015 it began selling its self-developed @ATTENTION system for evaluation and rehabilitation of unilateral spatial neglect, and Creact International began importing inertial measurement units (IMUs) from the U.S. company MicroStrain. The company marked its 50th anniversary in January 2026, stating that it would continue to pursue new value creation with expertise and integrity built on the experience and trust accumulated over decades. Its corporate site continues to list product notices, events and case studies, including the discontinuation of Plux BITalino series products and price revisions, and the use of biosignalsplux EEG sensors in a Steven Spielberg film.
