Overview

Copp Clark is a Canadian publisher established in Toronto in 1841, described as one of Canada's oldest continuously operating publishers. Its origins trace to Hugh Scobie's book and stationery business at 16 King Street East in Toronto. Today it provides market holiday, trading hours, and financial calendar data used across global financial operations, and is a SWIFT® registered solutions partner with products endorsed by ACI, the Financial Markets Association.

History

Copp Clark traces its origins to Hugh Scobie's book and stationery business at 16 King Street East in Toronto; Scobie was already an active publisher, printer, and public figure in Toronto. In 1848, in partnership with James Balfour, Hugh Scobie published Scobie & Balfour's Canadian Almanac and Repository of Useful Knowledge. The Copp Clark name took shape in 1869. The company experienced the Great Toronto Fire in 1904 and moved to a new home on Wellington Street in 1909. Money Day Finder® was introduced in 1982 and Goodbusiness Day Finder® in 1986. Founded in Toronto in 1841, Copp Clark has built its reputation on authoritative reference information for more than 180 years; what began in Canadian publishing now continues in financial calendar data used by organizations across the globe.
