Historia Contemporánea

Historia Contemporánea is a quarterly academic journal founded in 1988 by the Department of Contemporary History (UPV-EHU). It publishes original, unpublished academic studies in Spanish and English on contemporary history across its various branches and methodologies, accepts monographic dossiers, and publishes book reviews in the specialty. It charges no article processing charges (APC) or submission fees. The journal holds the quality seal of the Fundación para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) and is indexed in Scopus, ESCI, DOAJ, Fuente Académica Plus, American History and Live, Historical Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts, IPSA, País International, ISOC, MLA, Political Science Complete and WPSA, among others. It was directed by José Mª Beascoechea from 2018 and, from 2025, is directed by Eduardo J. Alonso Olea.
