Overview

Conn's Hospitality Group is a family business that started with Roy Conn's first Springfield restaurant in 1948. It is now run by Roy's son Court, his wife Karen, and their sons Casey and Adam. The group operates several businesses, each located in a historic building in downtown Springfield, Peoria, or Elkhart, Illinois, restored by the Conn family. Their mission is to excel in hospitality and serve the community, with the motto 'Preserving History Through Hospitality'.

History

Conn's Hospitality Group started with Roy Conn's first Springfield restaurant in 1948. Roy Conn worked in his family restaurant in Palmyra, then in downtown Springfield restaurants, before renting a space in a tavern on East Monroe Street in 1948 to open Roy's Café. He set up his meat cooking and slicing station in the window, drawing crowds. His business boomed, and he acquired a second location. At one time, there were four restaurants operating simultaneously. Roy closed his last downtown restaurant due to the opening of White Oaks Mall. He then turned to catering. His son Court began overseeing most aspects during the late 70s to early 80s. Now, Roy's son Court and his wife Karen, and Court's sons Casey and Adam run operations including Inn at 835, Conn's Catering, Obed & Isaac's Microbrewery & Eatery, Elkhart Hill Farm, Elkhart Station, and Vinegar Hill Mall Complex.
