Overview

ConBrio Verlag is a music publishing house that was founded in 1993 by Theo Geißler and Felix Maria Roehl. It originated from the 'neue musikzeitung' (nmz), which was first published in 1951 under the Bosse Verlag. The publishing house focuses on music books and related topics.

History

ConBrio Verlag was founded in 1993 by Theo Geißler and Felix Maria Roehl. The 'neue musikzeitung' (nmz), which was the heart of the publishing house at its founding and remains one of its most important products, is much older than the publishing house itself. It first appeared in 1951 under the Bosse Verlag, initially titled 'Musikalische Jugend', later as 'neue musikzeitung'. In the 1950s, Bärenreiter bought the Bosse Verlag, but it remained in Regensburg. When Bernhard Bosse announced his retirement, the relocation to Kassel became current. This was the moment for Theo Geißler and Felix Maria Roehl to take over the nmz independently, buy it out of the Bosse Verlag, and build their own music publishing house. Thus ConBrio Verlag was created. In the first years, the focus was on the book program alongside the development of the nmz.
