Overview
Community Keisei Co., Ltd. (株式会社コミュニティー京成) is a Japanese retail and services company headquartered in Yachiyo, Chiba Prefecture, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Keisei Electric Railway. It was established on 12 May 1999 as a company tasked with developing new businesses within the Keisei Group, and it began by operating franchise convenience stores and the cafe-and-bar chain PRONTO. Its founding concept was to create stores that become indispensable to the communities around each station, which is reflected in the word "Community" in its name. The company's core business is convenience store franchising. It started with am/pm stores and, after concluding a comprehensive business alliance with FamilyMart in April 2010, converted its am/pm outlets to FamilyMart. In 2014 it took over the station kiosk business within the Keisei Group and agreed with FamilyMart on converting the "MiNi SHOP" station kiosks to FamilyMart. Today it operates around 60 FamilyMart stores, mainly inside stations on the Keisei Line and in the wider Keisei Group area, and has also expanded to stations on other lines such as the Nippori-Toneri Liner and the Tsukuba Express. Beyond convenience stores, Community Keisei runs a diversified portfolio: the cafe-and-bar chain PRONTO, the bakery chain Little Mermaid, the specialty coffee chain Tully's Coffee, the super sento (public bathhouse) "Shigaono-yu" in Matsudo Yagiri, and the coin laundry "Sentakukun." In October 2025 it merged with Keisei Travel Service Co., Ltd. and inherited its travel business, Keisei Travel, bringing the number of business lines to six. As of 1 April 2026 the company reported over 70 operating locations, annual operating revenue exceeding 10 billion yen, 290 full-time employees and about 1,691 part-time and contract staff, with Kunihiko Yoshikawa serving as president and representative director. Its stated mission is to provide products and services that please customers and contribute to the development of local communities.
History
Community Keisei was established on 12 May 1999 as a company responsible for new business development within the Keisei Group. It began operations by running franchise convenience stores under the am/pm brand and the cafe-and-bar chain PRONTO. In 2000 it started operating the super sento (public bathhouse) "Shigaono-yu." The company's name, "Community," was chosen to express the founding aspiration of contributing to the development of local communities as a member of each station and town, and of creating stores that are indispensable to customers. A major turning point came on 21 April 2010, when the company concluded a comprehensive business alliance with FamilyMart Co., Ltd. and began converting its am/pm stores to FamilyMart. In 2014 the company took over the station kiosk business within the Keisei Group, and on 26 February 2014 it signed a memorandum with FamilyMart concerning station-inside kiosks, converting Keisei's "MiNi SHOP" station kiosks to FamilyMart on a sequential basis. In 2020 it launched the coin laundry business "Sentakukun," and in 2021 it began franchise operation of the bakery chain Little Mermaid. On 1 October 2025, Community Keisei merged with Keisei Travel Service Co., Ltd. and succeeded to that company's travel business, adding "Keisei Travel" and bringing its operations to six business lines. On 5 February 2026 it concluded a comprehensive business alliance agreement with Tully's Coffee Japan for new franchise business, and began franchise operation of Tully's Coffee. The company marked its 25th anniversary in 2024 and, as of 1 April 2026, reported more than 70 operating locations and annual operating revenue exceeding 10 billion yen.
