Comgest is an independent, international asset management group that has pursued a long-term 'Quality Growth' and responsible investment style since its creation in 1985. It is headquartered in Paris with offices in Europe, Asia and North America, and serves investors around the world. The firm has always been 100% owned by employees and founders as a partnership.

Comgest was established in Paris in 1985. Following its establishment, Jean-François Canton and shortly thereafter Wedig von Gaudecker began advising on Asian (including Japan) and European Equities with a focus on Quality Growth. The firm launched Pan-Europe & Asia Equity Strategies, a Global Equity Strategy, and a GEM Equity Strategy. Vincent Strauss joined Comgest and launched the Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Equity strategy. Dublin Office opened, followed by Düsseldorf & Amsterdam Offices, and Tokyo Office. Vincent Strauss became CEO. Comgest became a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, formalising its commitment to responsible investing. A dedicated ESG team was launched. Comgest implemented proprietary ESG 'Quality Levels' assigned to companies, impacting the discount rate applied in valuation models. Comgest implemented an 'in-house' Responsible Voting Policy. Boston Office opened. Arnaud Cosserat became CEO, having joined Comgest in 1996 as an Analyst/Portfolio Manager of the Pan-Europe Equity strategy. Comgest adopted a Responsible Investment Policy to further integrate environmental, social and governance criteria. Comgest pledged support for the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. The Comgest Foundation was launched, dedicated to organising and coordinating the philanthropic pursuits of Comgest. A UK Representative Office opened in London. 'Plus strategies' were launched, offering the same quality growth style as core strategies with an enhanced approach.
