History

Cleopatra Group's milestones begin in 1986 with the company foundation: the inauguration of the first factory in 10th of Ramadan, based on a joint venture between Cleopatra and Sacmi, with production reaching around 1,277,500 sq. mt. per year and 3 production lines; the factory is described as the first to manufacture tiles entirely in Egypt, taking inspiration from European design. In 1987, due to raising demand, the factory increased its production lines to 6, with total production per year reaching around 2,555,000 sq. mt., including floor and wall tiles. In 1988, an additional line was set up, reaching a total of 7, and yearly production exceeded 3,650,000 sq. mt. In 1990, a new factory was built on a 100,000 square meter area, described as the largest in the Middle East able to produce floor tiles for heavy duty. In 1991, Cleopatra plants progressively extended to support new manufacturing for the Egyptian and international markets, such as white body wall tiles. In 1992-1993, Cleopatra established the first sanitary ware factory in Egypt. Separately, the group states that since its establishment in 1983 it has been committed towards corporate social responsibility, and that in 2001 it established an independent social institution named "Abou El Enein Social Institution".
