The group operates two core businesses, with the main Building Hardware Division acting as a leading stockist of iron & steel and an importer and exporter of structural steel and other construction and building materials in Malaysia. It has expanded into value-adding activities including Cut & Bend Rebar, Wire Mesh and EsyFence welded security fencing, forming the backbone of its Steel Service Centre.

The business of the Chuan Huat Group of Companies started in 1957 from a small enterprise business and grew into a respectable group of companies headed by Chuan Huat Resources Berhad, which is listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia on 5 August 1997. The group was started by the Founder, the late Mr. Lim Kim Chuan, on 10 May 1957. Initially in the business of merchant hardware supplying to hardware and engineering contractors, it evolved to become a leading stockist of iron & steel, importer and exporter of structural steel and other construction materials. Its strength and reputation in the trade earned it agencies to distribute and market a wide range of building materials and structural steel. In line with increased construction sector activity, the group expanded to include value-adding activities of Cut & Bend Rebar, Wire Mesh and EsyFence welded security fencing to support the upstream operation of steel and iron, forming the backbone of the Steel Service Centre Division. The group is divided into two core businesses, the main being the Building Hardware Division.
