Overview

Chiroro-NET Co., Ltd. (株式会社チロロネット) is an independent Japanese information-technology company headquartered in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. It describes itself as an independent server-hosting company founded in 2000, and it operates its own data centers inside Kurashiki City. Its core business is rental-server hosting — shared servers, virtual (VPS) servers, a premium virtual-server plan, dedicated servers, DNS server rental, and domain registration and management — supported by redundant high-speed network lines. The company positions these services as combining the freedom of colocation (housing) with the management convenience of hosting, and it says it is particularly strong at multi-server configurations and storage servers. Beyond hosting, Chiroro-NET provides web production and web-system development, database-system development (design and development of database-driven web applications), and IT support services such as network design and construction, security-software sales and support, and security guidance. It also offers cloud services including cloud storage and an online backup service branded "Kuroko Backup" (黒子バックアップ), and a mail attachment delivery service called "Mamo Mail" (まもメール) launched in 2022. Its corporate philosophy is expressed in the phrase "devote ourselves to being the behind-the-scenes supporter of the information society" (情報化社会の黒子に徹する), with the keywords "safe, secure, stable, comfortable." The company's history reaches back to June 1998, when Chiroro-Net was established for the purpose of website production, followed by the start of server hosting in May 1999. The current corporate entity was founded in Okayama City in July 2000 with capital of 10,000 yen as a limited partnership, and was reorganized into a stock company (株式会社) in April 2003 with capital increased to 10 million yen. The company has moved its headquarters several times within Okayama Prefecture and now sits in Kurashiki City. It opened a second data center in Kurashiki in February 2015 and in September 2015 established a wholly owned subsidiary, Chiroro-Net Viet Co., Ltd., in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, through which it offers hosting on local Vietnamese data centers as well as HTML coding and PHP programming. Chiroro-NET is a private, independent company with stated capital of 10 million yen. Its representative director is Kyuma Ando (安藤 究真). Its group includes Chiroro System Co., Ltd., Chiroro Print Co., Ltd. (established in 2007 in Nagoya to sell and support printer-security software), and the Vietnam subsidiary. The company holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its server-hosting information-security management system, first obtained in October 2006, and maintains a published information-security policy. It is registered as a general second-class telecommunications carrier (一般第二種電気通信事業者 F-14-465).

History

Chiroro-NET's history begins in June 1998, when Chiroro-Net was established with the purpose of producing homepages. In May 1999 the company started a server-hosting business, moving into the hosting market early in the Japanese web era. In July 2000, the current corporate entity was founded in Okayama City as a limited partnership (合資会社チロロネット) with capital of 10,000 yen. The following year, in February 2001, it began a database-system development business, and in April 2001 it started a database ASP business. Also in April 2001 it moved its head office into the Okayama Prefecture Incubation Center "e-Plaza." In December 2001 it opened a Sapporo office in Chuo-ku, Sapporo; renamed the limited partnership Chiroro System (合資会社チロロシステム); and established a new limited company, Chiroro-Net (有限会社チロロネット), with capital of 3 million yen. In March 2003 the head office moved to Tamachi, Okayama City, and a Tokyo office was opened in Shibuya, Tokyo. In April 2003 the company increased its capital to 10 million yen and reorganized into a stock company, Chiroro-Net Co., Ltd. (株式会社チロロネット). In August 2003 it began a Flash live-streaming business, followed in June 2004 by a Flash on-demand streaming business and in July 2004 by a rental-server business supporting Flash Communication Server (FCS). In March 2005 the head office moved to Nishitomii, Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, and in April 2005 the Tokyo office moved to Shinjuku, Tokyo (it has since closed). In October 2006 the company obtained ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its information-security management system in server hosting, underscoring its security emphasis. In October 2007 it established Chiroro Print Co., Ltd. (株式会社チロロプリント) in Nagoya to sell and support printer-security software. In October 2010 the head office moved again, to Fukui, Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. In February 2015 the company completed a second data center in Kurashiki, and in September 2015 it established a wholly owned subsidiary, Chiroro-Net Viet Co., Ltd. (CÔNG TY TNHH CHIRORO-NET VIỆT), in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, extending its hosting and development operations abroad. In more recent years the company has continued to update its service lineup and operations. In August 2020 it reported a service disruption caused by unauthorized access. In July 2022 it launched the mail attachment delivery service "Mamo Mail." In January 2024 it announced a head-office relocation, and in December 2024 it announced changes to service pricing. On July 11, 2026, the company announced it had reached its 26th anniversary since founding. Throughout, Chiroro-NET has remained an independent, privately held company headquartered in Kurashiki, Okayama, operating its own data centers and a group of affiliated companies.
