Chiemsee

CHIEMSEE is a German apparel brand whose origins trace to boardsport culture at the Chiemsee lake: brothers Christof and Martin Imdahl learned windsurfing in 1977 and founded the first windsurf school shortly afterwards. In 1982 the brand made its first public appearance at the watersport trade fair 'Boot', and 'Windsurfing Chiemsee' was founded the same year. The brand creates summer and winter collections, and its online shop presents categories such as jackets, fleece, beanies, men's shirts and tanks, and women's sweatshirts. CHIEMSEE states it has been a member of amfori BSCI since 2010 and partners with MBRC the Ocean on ocean protection.

CHIEMSEE's history begins at the Chiemsee lake. In 1977 the first surfboard appeared there; two young men, Christof and Martin Imdahl, taught themselves to windsurf and shortly afterwards founded the first windsurf school. In 1979 they travelled to Hawaii with a surfboard. On the island they met Mickey Eskimo, an ex-Austrian and adopted Hawaiian, and between the three a deep friendship and a business idea developed. The young men opened a 'Surfhütterl' at home, selling self-printed T-shirts and surf accessories. In 1982 CHIEMSEE made its first public appearance at the watersport trade fair 'Boot', and in the same year 'Windsurfing Chiemsee' was founded. Mickey Eskimo became a team rider and developed the first designs for the brand. Almost two years after the company's founding, the first CHIEMSEE summer collection came to market: a shorts in three lengths (Mini, Midi & Maxi), a T-shirt designed by Mickey Eskimo, and a nylon jacket. The brand went on to create summer and winter collections. CHIEMSEE states that it has been a member of amfori BSCI since 2010, applying its code of conduct, and that it partners with MBRC the Ocean against pollution of the world's oceans.
