Chia Nan Goat Milk Marketing Cooperative

Chia Nan Goat Milk Marketing Cooperative (嘉南羊乳) is a Taiwanese goat milk brand and cooperative. According to its official brand story, it was founded in October 1985 (民國74年) by 52 herders from the Chianan Plain, becoming Taiwan's first professional goat milk marketing cooperative. It describes itself as the first to integrate goat-raising resources and establish a goat milk brand, and in March 1988 (民國77年) completed Taiwan's first professional goat milk processing plant. The cooperative states it has its own raw goat milk collection fleet, large low-temperature refrigerated transport fleet, and nationwide distribution and home delivery service. According to the official brand story, in the 1950s and 1960s goat milk was a rare premium drink in Taiwan, and in the 1970s and 1980s goat raising was not a mainstream livestock activity, with each farm self-producing and self-selling. Fifty-two herders from the Chianan Plain founded Chia Nan Goat Milk in October 1985 (民國74年), establishing Taiwan's first professional goat milk marketing cooperative. The brand story states that Chia Nan was the first to integrate goat-raising resources, professionalize the division of labor across livestock raising, food processing, and dairy retailing, and pioneer brand building and corporate marketing in the goat milk sector. In March 1988 (民國77年) it completed Taiwan's first professional goat milk processing plant, described as the first such plant specially guided by Taiwan's Council of Agriculture and Ministry of the Interior. The cooperative reports having its own raw goat milk collection fleet, large low-temperature refrigerated transport fleet, and nationwide distribution and home delivery service, and states it was the first in the goat milk industry to receive triple quality certification including the goat milk mark, and the only goat milk brand to receive the World Food Evaluation's top gold award.
