History
The CCC Video Operation Center (c3voc) is a working group consisting of Chaos Computer Club enthusiasts running lecture recording and streaming infrastructure on and for different chaos events or conferences. During events it provides livestreams in various formats so that most devices should be able to play at least one of them. Using its own equipment, it pulls content directly from its encoding boxes; in other cases it can ingest RTMP streams using e.g. OBS, and other formats might be possible as long as either ffmpeg or gstreamer can receive it. It operates media.ccc.de together with the media group of (mostly) the CCC Cologne, and that platform is generally open for hackerspaces and events near to the CCC. Over the years it has collected equipment for multiple streaming and recording setups, adaptable to most universities' lecture halls, basically consisting of a camera, an encoder/recorder box with inputs for camera and slides, an audio mixer with wireless microphones, and cables. It has also written tooling including voctomix (its video mixer used during on-site events), voctoweb (the system behind media.ccc.de), intro-outro-generator (tooling for creating animated intros with embedded information for each talk), cm (its ansible-based configuration management used for most of its infrastructure), kevin (a WIP fully open replacement for OBS.Ninja), wink (its inventory and transport planning tool), and tracker (its centralised recording manager / ticket system).
