History
Changhua Bus was formed on March 1, 1942 (Minguo year 31) through the merger of nine small bus companies: Changhua Light Railway Co., Asahi Automobile Joint Venture, Lukang Automobile Co., Mikasa Automobile Co., Joint Venture 23 Automobile Trading Association, Hexing Bus Co., Nantou Automobile Co., Dai-Nippon Sugar Manufacturing Co., and Kaishan Automobile Joint Venture. Its predecessor name was Changhua Jōgō Jidōsha Kabushiki Kaisha. At the time, the Japanese government divided central Taiwan into four bus operating zones, consolidating small companies into four bus companies: Taiwan Transportation (later bought by the Highway Bureau), Fengyuan, Yuanlin, and Changhua. Among the chairmen of the four central Taiwan bus companies, only Changhua Bus's chairman, Lu Shiming, was not Japanese. The company has over 70 years of history and has long served Changhua and Nantou residents. In recent years it has established affiliated enterprises including Changhua Sightseeing, Changhua Travel Agency, and Tongyong Information. Its chairmanship passed from Lu Shiming to Huang Chengqing in 1960, to Lu Zhaozong in 1965, to Huang Wenyao in 2001, and to Huang Jinchun in 2014.
