Centrex Italia S.p.A. was established as CEA Centrex Italia S.r.l., founded by CEA Centrex Energy & Gas AG as sole shareholder. In February 2007, it began importing natural gas and selling to Italian wholesalers. In October 2008, CEA Centrex Italia S.r.l. supported the supply, logistics, sales and trading activities of CEA Centrex Energy & Gas AG. In April 2010, CEA Centrex Energy & Gas AG was acquired by the Gazprombank Group. In May 2010, the sole shareholder CEA Centrex Energy & Gas AG became Centrex Europe Energy & Gas AG. In February 2011, CEA Centrex Italia S.r.l. became Centrex Italia S.p.A., and all natural gas sales activities in Italy and trading in Europe were allocated to the Italian company. In April 2011, Centrex Italia S.p.A. (51%) and Gruppo Società Gas Rimini S.p.A. (49%) established Weedoo S.p.A., a new player based in Milan offering an innovative model of consulting and supply of electricity, natural gas and energy efficiency to SMEs and families. In February 2016, Centrex Italia entered the power sector, starting to operate in the sourcing, transport and supply of electricity to sales companies and end customers. In March 2020, Gazprom Export acquired Centrex Europe Energy & Gas AG from Gazprombank, and Centrex Italia S.p.A. became part of the world's largest gas producer and exporter group. In June 2021, EGH Gulf FZCO acquired Centrex Europe Energy & Gas AG; together with EGH Gulf FZCO, Centrex Italia would consolidate existing activities and develop growth and expansion strategies. In December 2024, Centrex Italia announced a change in ownership.
