Overview
Central Conveyor Co., Ltd. (セントラルコンベヤー株式会社) is a Japanese manufacturer of conveyors and material-handling equipment headquartered in Kōta, Nukata District, Aichi Prefecture. The company designs, manufactures, sells, installs, wires, maintains and services a broad range of logistics and conveying equipment, with conveyors at the core of its business. Its product families span free-roller conveyors (steel, stainless-steel, aluminium and resin rollers), gravity wheel conveyors, conveyor stands and options, lift units, conveyor parts, and driven conveyor series classified by load — light, medium and heavy duty. Beyond individual components, it supplies system products such as the Accumuflex Yo-Yo accumulation system, AMR+ conveyor series, sorting systems and vertical conveyors, and it publishes design-and-production examples including right-angle transfer units, two-tier conveyors and plastic modular chain conveyors. The company was established in March 1961 with capital of 50 million yen as a joint venture between Takuma Co., Ltd. and Sanryusha Co., Ltd., and was incorporated in June 1961. It opened a Tokyo branch in 1961 and an Osaka branch in 1962, and in 1968 Takuma acquired Sanryusha's stake, making Central Conveyor a Takuma affiliate. Capital was increased to 100 million yen in 1969, and the head office and factory moved to their current location in 1970. Over the following decades the company developed a high-speed horizontal sorting device (HHS) in 1972, licensed the Nice Conveyor small-item conveying patent from Shuttleworth in the United States in 1986, concluded a technical tie-up with Rotzinger of Switzerland concerning Accumuflex Yo-Yo in 1990, developed a bag system in 1991, and began operating the Nukata factory in 1993. Ownership changed in the 2000s: in December 2008 Takuma transferred its shares to IHI, and in October 2012 a share exchange made the company an affiliate of IHI Logitec (now IHI Logistics & Industrial Systems Co., Ltd.). The company obtained ISO 9001 certification in 2001 and has continued to launch products such as the belt-driven roller conveyor e-veyor in 2010 and Ribveyor in 2020. It marked its 50th anniversary in 2011 and 60th anniversary in 2021. Its main bank is Mizuho Bank, Okazaki branch, and its representative director and president is Katsumi Nakayama. The company operates its head office and factory in Kōta, a Nukata factory in Okazaki, and sales offices in Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka.
