Overview

The Center for Interactive Pedagogy (CIP) is a Serbian non-profit association based in Belgrade, founded in 1998 by experts gathered around the team of the Institute for Pedagogy and Andragogy at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. The founding team had been implementing the programme "Kindergarten as a Family Center", based on the "Step by Step" methodological approach to upbringing and education. The association's initial aim was to promote, support and develop action research and the application of interactive methods in education. Over time CIP's activities expanded from preschool to primary and secondary education, youth work, family programmes and the education of professionals from other sectors such as health, social protection, media and local government, while preschool education has remained a constant focus. In 2002 an office was opened and the foundations of the organisation as it exists today were established. CIP is registered with the Serbian Business Registers Agency under registration number 17204548. Today CIP's mission is to empower children, young people and adults, raise the professional capacities of experts, advocate democratic values and connect individuals and organisations for joint action. It works to improve living conditions for children and youth in Serbia, empower experts, activists, parents and duty-bearers, introduce contemporary theoretical knowledge and inspiring practice into educational policies, provide various forms of education and mentoring support and programmes for children and families, create programmes, publications, brochures, audio and video materials, connect experts, activists, parents and duty-bearers for joint action, advocate the realisation of children's rights, human rights and freedoms, and promote respect for democratic values. A special focus is placed on supporting the educational and social inclusion of children and young people from socially vulnerable groups. As of 2024 the Assembly has twenty-eight members and the Governing Board has five: Tatjana Matijaš, Nataša Simić, Irena Bulat, Jelena Micić and Dragan Gračanin.
